Sadly, trombone is not what they require. Piano accordion is the instrument that's needed, and I've played that before, but not very much.
Going down to a rehearsal tonight, we'll see what they're up to...

I'm taking a break from programming to help my daughter with her math.
Mean while, I'm working my own math by reading through How To Prove it.
This is an amazing book that takes a structured approach to proofs, and is very geared towards programmers and others who think structurally.

I'm back to work now that It's been 4 days since I had my wisdom teeth cut out. Everything went well except and I would have been back to work yesterday if not for yesterday morning all 4 of my stitches fell out and I had to take 2 Vaikeden which prevented me from driving to work, and pretty much standing in general
But today I'm working on a new letter type for clients. Hooray new development!

I'd have liked to see the code had you made it to work.

Hey Yba, I didn't know you could speak Klingon
As for what I'm up to today... being tired. Had a bit of a late one last night arranging a riot and making sure my target got stomped into the ground. Literally.

I was asked to create a functional mock-up of our faculty web page template (as opposed to just the print reference copy). I used "Charles Francis Xavier, Professor of Biomedical Engineering". It was a fun little project.
... whether anyone else at my workplace will get it is beyond me, but I had a good time.

Today's work... fixing disqus because even though they think they are hot shit, they still have bugs. Like in their wordpress disqus plugin. They try to prepare an SQL statement without providing a second argument. Of course Wordpress flags it since it is indeed a slip up. If you aren't going to bind a parameter, don't try to prepare it!
For those with disqus plugin for wordpress, check out disqus.php line 285. You will see the senseless prepare statement there. Fix as you find appropriate. Enjoy!

I was supposed to come in at 5 am today, so I "woke up" (didn't really sleep) at 3:15 to get ready, found out when I was ready to walk out the door (just now) that I didn't grab a keycard, so I'm fucked. I wouldn't even be able to get into the front door. Therefore, I'm just gonna chill here at home for another hour and a half so I can get there the same time as everybody else. Ugh. Soooo tired.

Undoing all the changes that were made to my program from another programmer who "fixed an issue", then fixing the issue the correct way.

I hate working with crystal reports, I have to make a new one after I finish implementing this new letter type for a client >_>

We had a service luncheon today. It's where the administration comes out, donning aprons and tongs, and serves lunch to the underlings (burgers, brats, all those mayo-infused picnic salads, etc). The underlings then proceed to stuff their faces while seated around various picnic tables scattered throughout the courtyard.
I took a seat at the end of a bench at an empty table and watched as the other tables rapidly filled to capacity. I watched people wander about, in search of an open seat, looking my direction - seeing my dorky ass all alone at a fully available table - before turning around and heading inside to the cafeteria to eat. Because eating inside on a gorgeous day is a far better option than sitting outside with the computer nerd.
I ate my lunch all alone in absolute silence, and excused myself back to my office with a full hour to spare of our special 90-minute lunch. I watched my table fill up quickly the moment I walked away.
I'm not mean (usually).
I'm not smelly (I showered).
I'm just quiet and awkward (oh, so painfully awkward).
I wish there were other nerds here.
