Seems to be a popular topic.

Look through this:

Hey.

Sure, that's possible. You basically have two choices:

One: Open the database itself up to connections from the web, giving your VB.NET a way to connect directly to the database and query it for data.

Two: Create a PHP web-service between the database and the VB.NET application. The VB.NET code would just do a normal HTTP request, which PHP would process, returning data from the database back to the VB.NET code in XML form. (Or whatever data format you prefer.)

Personally I would recommend the second option. Opening the database up to external connections can be a security risk, and you have a lot more control over what's happening to your data if you set up access to it through a web service.

You could look up SOAP services as a base for the web service. That's a very popular setup for such services. Or you could just invent your own. It's not all that difficult.
Edit: On second though, just go through modi123_1's tutorial. He explains this much better!
