Learning PHP and making a project with it (ASAP)

Posted 16 June 2013 - 01:56 PM

Hello,
If you were about to be hired for a job and you need to effect your employeers with what you learn about PHP in 20 days. Then you need to show that with a (simple or not) project,
how would your way be to learn PHP asap and as much as you can do ?
what would your project be ?

I will appreciate your help.

Thanks, regards.

I would buy a book, work through its exercises, and supplement with tutorials.

As for a project, it's about what you're interested in, not us. Most web applications are database-driven. So something along that end might be good.

I would have to note that "simply learning PHP (syntax)" itself does not make you a good programmer. If you have no clue about application design or programming standards, no programming language can cover for you.

I know that. I'm not planning to learn all of Php in 20 days that's impossible. All i want is using this time most efficiently. Thanks for your advice.

@macosxnerd101 thanks for your advice, i will consider this.

That's kind of weird: i'm going to work for 2 months (till the school begins) and i nearly know nothing about web programming. This is kind of like an unobligated internship. I didn't request any money and they let me learn web programming with them. I just need to show them that i'm willing to learn.

with regardsa to PHP, have a good look at the ToC of the PHP Manual. this often gives you a good idea what is possible. (e.g. if you know that PHP has a dozen of Exception classes, exception handling certainly is possible)
