First PC game I remember playing. I was in first grade.

I've tried getting into SC/BW but it really hasn't aged well. I think in terms of playability now it's better for those who played it in the past, just for the nostalgia.

Well, SC/BW is still ridiculously popular considering its age. But you're probably right; it's not a lot of new players, it's people who haven't stopped playing it since it came out. Well, that and Koreans. I think Starcraft might be their national sport.

Yeah, SC2 is pretty great, definitely haven't had so much fun in a game before. I haven't played SC/BW though (I have, but I was like 5 and didn't really know anything about the world).

SC/BW is still very popular because it achieved a great balance after several years of adjustments. I have fond memories of that game, and of weekends without sleep. I think there's even a Strategy of StarCraft college course.

HotS is a lot more balanced than WoL. Why don't you play any more?

Still only Terran in the starter edition I think, but they did say they'll cycle the available races. I don't know how often, I'd assume every season, maybe every other season.

Ah, I reread the thread and it said it was only a promo (and now sadly over).

Still, I don't really think just spawning would make the game fun (with limits and all that). Maybe I'll buy it or something when I have the $$$.
