Well so you got one of the handy dic thumbdrives a whole gig of what you want when you want it well im here to tell you bub that that is a lot of free space. so ya may as well use it to replace your PDA and Roaming Profiles. There is a org called portable apps that packages up all this sweet open source software into an installer package so that you can plop it all right down on your thumbdrive.
Currently I am runnig Thunderbird Firefox and open office from my Dic Thumbdrive but there are a bunch of other cool projects running also. For example there is even a MAC OS 7 project so you could emulate your old Mac on your DIC Drive and rock out to some old gray scale os history.

I used a bunch of portable apps for a while, they work pretty well.
I still use Portable ClamWin Portable for on-site antivirus.

Firefox portable saved my ass more that once. That coupled with google browser sync, and it`s like browsing from home.
Also great: GAIM (did they upgrade to Pidgin yet?), and Filezilla.
However, since my Dane Elec drive broke and I lost my corsair, I have to work without it.

The biggest reason I decided to set up the drive with this stuff is that I am using one of either 4 computers here at home not to mention the 1 at work and any travel laptops that I may take out with me.
Having thunderbird ready and waiting to get my email is worth the time to download it alone. No craptacular webclients and since I always have my thumb drive on my I dont have to use my PDA anymore either.

That's some good stuff. I have Firefox, Thunderbird, and Pidgin from Portable Apps on the USB drive.
Oh, and Sudoku.
Yeah, Firefox portable FTW. I've got some nice extensions there such as Web Dev Toolbar, FireBug, FireFTP, etc., so being able to cart that around with me is pretty nice.
