I recently came up with the idea of creating a git-based package manager inspired by vundle. At the moment I am calling it mule, which will always be there to carry your baggage (packages). It will use git for the majority of the back-end (REPO mirrors will be git servers, bags -- packages -- will be git repositories within the servers, etc. It will use JSON for the majority of the file keeping so that it won't weigh down your machine by requiring a lot of programs installed.
Currently it is being developed in perl.
Here's the repo:
https://github.com/JamesB/mule
It is still in early development, but I expect to have something up and working in a few days if I have the chance to continue working on it.
Let me know your thoughts.

You might want to look into the AUR on Arch Linux. I'm fairly certain that some packages when pulled by pacman pull directly from the git repositories.

It needs a logo. A fancy logo.

@grim - Alright, I'll take a look at AUR when I get a chance, though I'll probably have mule v1.0 ready by then. It would be really cool if they can interact with git repositories so I could fork their code and go from there.
@modi - I am not sure how to feel about that logo... It is kinda creepy.

You are right - it needs about 27% more lecherous-ness.
