I am in 8th grade with much java experience and I need a science fair project that will wow the judges. I need to ask a question that I can test. I was thinking something with a java simulation that used user input to determine the stress on a building or something like that. Any Suggestions?

What's wrong with that? I think the best thing to do right now is probably start gathering your requirements and then you can go from there.

I want to create an app in java that will generate and simulate a building using input from a user and then calculating how much stress is on a building and the best material to stand up to that stress. For the science fair I need to ask a question for my hypothesis. Does anyone know a good question to go along with my idea?
Sorry I forgot to mention that the program will be for a BIG SCIENCE FAIR so the question has to be LEGIT.

Creating a good question is tough for me but I just read some information here that talks about variables and hypothesis.
Using our example from earlier, maybe we can say something like:
Question
How much stress is applied to a building due to aging and weather elements?
Hypothesis
If I use xyz formula, I can determine the amount of stress over a certain time frame in relation to the average type of weather the building is exposed to on a monthly basis (i.e. does it rain much, is it hot and muggy. If so, I will plug this data into my formula?)
Like I said before, these are just ideas and not the final design. I have no clue if this hypothesis even makes sense from a scientific standpoint but I'm thinking you can move somewhere in that direction

If you're in the 8th grade, this might be a bit advanced for you to tackle, just from a mathematical perspective. A lot of this can be described by basic high school and college physics. To really get more accurate and granular results though, you will want to either talk to someone in construction engineering or mathematical modeling, dealing specifically with topics like this.

I can find people to help me. I am sure I could find some company to help me and there are plenty of videos on khan academy and youtube so I think I would be able to do it!

Yeah, but at most you've probably had a year of Algebra. You haven't had trig or calculus yet. Trig isn't a big deal, but calculus is. A lot of the modeling is done with linear algebra and partial differential equations. You should consult with your teacher about this. I really think you're biting off too much. Khan academy and Youtube tutorials probably won't cut it, unless you really water things down. At that point though, it defeats the purpose of a science experiment, as you don't get useful data.

Not really. I get that you're excited about it, but there really isn't a way to bring things down to an 8th grade level. You need certain mathematical and physics foundations to work on this. There are no two ways around it.
