kids just got nhl 15 and destiny

I spend my day programming and my 9 year old son plays my PS3 all day. Going to probably catch flack for this, but his favorite games to play are Minecraft, Borderlands 1 & 2, GTA 4, GTA 4 Ballad of Gay Tony, GTA 5, Call of Duty series, and Amazing Spiderman. At night he boots up netflix and watches Ultimate Spiderman seasons 1 & 2 until he falls asleep.

That's seems like an awful lot of screen time for a nine year old to be doing every day of the week, in perpetuum.

Let alone the high ESRB that would slap your kid way outside the circle of acceptability.

My son has Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy ( http://mdausa.org/di...cular-dystrophy ) as does my wife (both are in wheelchairs and can't walk). During school about two years ago now he suddenly stopped breathing for no reason where he was diagnosed as having tracheomalacia in two spots in his left lung upon which they did surgery to put in a tracheostomy tube. As a side measure over concerns about him not gaining weight and having issues swallowing food they put in a Mic-Key so he gets fed through a feeding tube and pump. He is in a hospital bed in our front room on a ventilator set to C-PAP to supply pressure to his airway to prevent the tracheomalacia from collapsing. He is smart as can be, but his health makes it so he has nothing else he can do. He likes to draw and is being homeschooled, but otherwise he plays video games all day (like today he made my wife play Minecraft with him all day).

That's certainly a bum rap for you all. Though I figured there was some sort of "the rest of the story" after you threw your fishing line out.

Perhaps alternative games than the twitch shooters?

It's okay, it was my fault, I had just assumed it was rather easy to deduce from my statement that he had something medically wrong with him (physical or mental) that prevented him from doing activities other than games. I had no intention of elaborating until I saw you say you didn't know what I meant.

Was going to leave it vague because of this being a programming site and not really a site for personal material.

BHXSpecter=> Keep hope alive, there is alot of people that over come their diseases. Just take a look at Stephen Hawking. As far as personal material goes, we are a community and we under stand that the people on the other side of the post is a human. Sometimes we have to have things elaborated though.

Based on his interests, does he show interests in buildings and science? If so you might introduce him to Sketch Up or Build With Chrome.

Thank you. He may like the Build with Chrome since he loves building in Minecraft. Just have to get a Windows computer for it, but it is worth it.

You could VM Ware WIN 7 on a Mac if needed, also the net books should be able to run it and they run fairly cheap now. I haven't check yet but you might be able to do on a IPad or IPad Clone with the Chrome Browser.

So I'm checking out Archeage...

I've been so burnt on MMOs lately and have gone back to playing a MUD. My roommate (who is as picky as me about games, and has also been burnt out on MMOs) was telling me about it. There are a bunch of things I've been wanting to see in a game that I haven't seen since Vanguard. And Vanguard is good, but has fewer players than this MUD!

So actual playing housing, boats, flight, everything that SHOULD be there that isn't. I'm actually a little excited to get in and check it out.

I have no idea what server I'll be on - wherever my friends go more than likely.

Cross Fire is about as close as I get to MMOs right now. Mainly I am looking forward to picking up games I have missed due to financials over the last 3 years.
