Want to have a visit a brothel with realistically rendered models and movement? Yeah, there's a mod for that...

Are we back to not commenting on other people's fetishes? ;)

I've not played much with mods in Skyrim or F:NV. Any recommendations?

Can't help with F:NV I'm afraid but for Skyrim...

Admittedly I haven't played for a few years, but from what I remember the best place to look is here at the Nexus. The have an extremely useful mod manager for most of Bethesda's games

From the top of my head.

  • SkyUI
  • Cloaks Of Skyrim
  • The Dance of Death
  • Deadly Dragons
  • Glowing Ore Veins 300
  • Interesting NPCs

Interesting. Thanks Belgarion. I'll have to take a look at some of these next time I play.

Also don't forget the mod that swaps out dragon models with Thomas the Train models (and sounds).

Mods can be divided into two categories.

1. "fixes" and tweaks to improve your gaming experience.

2. Insane and/or Awesome that don't have much point beyond "just because"

I still got my copy, and install it periodically to play it. I wish they would reboot it or expanded it.

EA published the game and currently hold the rights, as far as I know. Firaxis, the game's developers, were later purchased by Take-Two. EA could sell the licence to Take-Two so Firaxis could make a sequel, but may not be open to selling it to a rival publisher.

There's the Planetfall mod which uses the Civilization IV engine to remake Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri though, if you wanted to take a look at that.

I played Planetfall when I had Civ IV installed, it was pretty cool.

Went to play Fallout : New vegas for PS3 last night and found my copy of the game (after realling long install) only goes to a black screen and then nothing. I will have to contact my bro and see if I have to exchange it at his Game Stop or if any will do. (it was christmas gift).

Agreed. Torchlight 2 is proving to be a very fun little game :)/>

As for Fallout: New Vegas, I recommend swapping it for a PC version. Fallout, Skyrim, and some other Bethesda games are a bit screwy when it comes to playing them on consoles. It has something to do with the savegames. As the game progresses, the savegame files get larger, and eventually, they get too big, and the PS3 has trouble with them.

In a F:NV game on the PS3, I had less than 20 hours clocked in, but the game was getting so laggy, I had to stop and reboot the console every 10-20 minutes (maybe less time if there was a lot of combat). On the other hand, I traded that copy in and bought it for the PC. Brilliant game, and not a single problem involving the savegame. (There was one problem, resulting from use of Quick Travel in the Big Empty, but that was easy enough to solve).

I would like to have my PS3 version working. I really don't want to have to go out and buy a copy... as far as the save game problem. The work around is to turn off Auto Save and periodically save in different spots(which I end up doing anyways when play any game that requires a morale questions or alternate game endings).

And of course the other major advantage of having a PC version of the various Bethesda games is the massive amount of mods that are available.

Ever wanted to fight a giant MLP in skyrim? There's a mod for that.

Want to beat Molerats with a lightsaber? There's a mod for that.

Want to have a visit a brothel with realistically rendered models and movement? Yeah, there's a mod for that...

I hated the way the quest system was setup in skyrim, so I stopped playing.

kinda like my 11 year old son who decided to do some mining for 2 weeks so he could build a working piano in mine craft just because he wanted to see if he could

Humankind has always done things "just because".

I find it hilarious that the main reason we started to dominate the planet is by being stubborn.

"Aw, the mammoth got away."
"Like hell it did. We are going to FOLLOW it and KILL it."
"What if it goes really far"
"WE ARE GOING TO FOLLOW IT AND KILL IT."

Heck, we saw the moon and thought "Yeah, I want to go there". We strapped ourselves to rockets and aimed ourselves into space. When we first tested the Atom bomb we didn't know whether it would ignite the atmosphere...

How many discoveries have come about because some genius (madman) has gone "huh, what happens if I do this..."

Carl Sagan said:

If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars

I always liked the line, and I forget where I read this (Google says Asimov), "The most exciting phrase to hear is not Euerka but, 'That's funny . . .'"

You've somewhat paraphrased it but yes that is an Asimov quote.

Some of my favourite (science) quotes are:

"Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing." - Wernher von Braun

"Your theory is crazy, but it's not crazy enough to be true." - Niels Bohr

"The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success." - Bruce Feirstein

I never go for the weapons skills. The skills I usually start with are Speech, Science, and Lockpick, since all are important when it comes to interacting with the world and people in it. Barter almost never gets points in it at all. Caps aren't a problem, even without Barter.

I think that weapons skills are very important for interacting with people in a post-apocalyptic wasteland...

Not my typical stats I vaguely remember starting out with.. science or lock picking were one.. sneak another.. as mentioned - I have an obsessive need to open every door and box so.. yeah.. gotta get the skills to pay the bills.

What about perks? Wild Wasteland better have been one of them!

I have the same compulsion. So what if that box looks like every other box in the game, maybe it has something really cool that nobody has ever seen before?!

I never used to pay any attention to sneak though, which is why I always needed the weapons skills...
