Yep...it's been in development for years. A couple years ago they scaled back the team, then just recently they fired everyone and so now its basically dead in the water.

I finished Doom 2 with the Brutal Doom mod last night, partly as a stress relief aid.

According to my housemates, however, while I was playing, I kept on smiling like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

This week, I have mostly been sucked into XCOM: Enemy Within (aka, Enemy Unknown plus expansion pack). There have been a few restarts, a few 'wtf?' moments (like discovering my shotgun wielding front line assault trooper suddenly got bonuses to his medkit use), and a couple of 'oh poo' moments when being attacked by many aliens and just knowing that I don't have enough actions to kill them this round, which means someone is going to get very hurt next turn.

For those of you that have played Enemy Within, 3 Chrysalids, a cyberdisc plus escort drones, and a sectoid mech-guy plus his escorts all being revealed at the same time. Annoyingly, all inside the same room in a scout ship that I shot down.

And although it isn't even installed yet, I also picked up Shadowrun Returns plus the extra stuff that makes up the deluxe pack for £6.50 (or something like that).

I saw shadowrun returns, I am going to talk to my wife tonight about getting it.

All time Xcom wtf moment, enter an area and all you see is a Ethereal alien 1st round, 2nd round reveals
6 Sectoids, 4 Thin Mans, and 4 Sectopods. Luckly I had just got the plasma Gatling gun, but I still walked away with only 1 man in the squad. Never took another Chinese mission that whole game.

Loved the game though, I have it in my play station plus.

New XCOM WTF moment when I was playing over the weekend.

Running around looking for Meld canisters on a map, I have my squad spread out. This is because Meld is only available in limited quantities, and disappears after a certain number of rounds, so it needs to be found quickly. In the space of a single turn, I managed to locate and annoy a cyberdisc plus 2 drone escorts, a pair of seekers, a mechtoid with a sectoid commander, and a sectopod with another two drones. That was fun.

Still, I managed to get everyone out and went on to complete the game. I even got the Xavier achievement for mind controlling one of the Ethreals. Oh, and I discovered the joys of mind control coupled with alien grenades.
