Very cool on the shoes. I just retrieved my gift from the office in my apartment building - I got spoiled again this year (I've had some pretty sweet satans).

I received:

• Unspeakable Words: The call of Cthulhu Word Game, which looks like a hilarious and difficult game of scrabble or something. I'll have to try this at work; we've been playing Avalon so I'm sure I can entice the group to try this as well
  
• Leatherman Skeletool CX - I was tired of never having any tools on me, so this will be helpful. It has: pliers, needlenose pliers, wire cutters, a knife, a bitdriver, and a carabiner clip that doubles as a bottle opener.
  
• Quicksilver and The System of the World by Neal Stephenson. I had mistakenly read The Confusion first, so now I can read the prequel and the conclusion of that series (I'll probably start after I finish up excess by Iain M. Banks, which I've stalled on recently).

Just an update on mine - the first half is due to arrive Friday, the 20th. The second half currently says between Thursday, the 19th and Tuesday the 24th. I'm glad I ordered them as quickly as I did given the delivery estimates.

Got home from work and got my gift. Arduino starter kit that I have been wanting for a while. It is one of those things that I would not buy for myself. Thanks SS, this is awesome. Now I get to decide what other goodies I want to plug into this thing.

Satan's been busy - got a package today containing an Airzooka! I see some experiments in physics in my future. What's the range for extinguishing a candle with one of those things? Can I produce a Doppler effect by shooting one at a point-source emitter of sound? Can it deflect a hurled ping-pong ball? The possibilities are endless! Pity I can't get on the Vomit Comet and find out whether it can be used as a manual propellent in zero-G...

That sounds pretty cool. I had time this weekend to download the software and that was it. I will get it installed this week and start making some lights blink and fans run. I was thinking about maybe building an system to fan the fire on my smoker to keep the cooking chamber steady and then alert me if it can't get the heat up. So, I can throw more wood on the fire. If I used pellets then I could easily get a hopper system to load them for me.

The fuzzy awesomeness of these slippers is indescribable. I've had to fight off both of my daughters... it was an immediate reaction of "ooh! you got new shoes? will they fit me?" No. They won't fit you. They're mine. I will amputate the feet of anyone who touches them.

I offered them my old slippers... but no one wanted them.

I got mine last week, and I thanked him on facebook. creativecoding gave me a set of Donut Shop Medium Roast Xtra Bold coffee I've wanted to try as well as Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy! I've been so busy playing these games that it's pretty much dominated my week so far.
