Well I finally got off my ass and decided to take a practice test for the ICSD1 that would be 1/2 of a CCNA and a separate CISCO certification on its own right. So I goes out to Barnes and Nobel and pick up the Offical Cisco curriculum for the CCNA exam and have started to read through it. The ICSD1 exam material just feels like Net plus to me anyone else have any thoughts on that. If so then the only problem I will have is with subnetting I can never remember the forumulae. That is what subnetting software is for so you dont have to remember that stuff.
Anyway I digress. My goal is to get all the certs I started on but never finished.

Awesome man.
Hey, me having a CCNA landed me the job that I have today (that and a randomly put together quiz at my interview). Not saying that you don't have an awesome job already but the CCNA is a cornerstone cert to have with any INT related career IMO.

It is not that I have a blah blah job I just feel that I have hit the glass celing. I know the stuff but I cant go any higher. So instead of sitting around belly aching about it I am going to get some paper and shop around for better pay either with my current employer or one of the others around here.
with some actual paper to match my decade of experience I may be able to get a nice bit of change.

I agree with you on CCNA seems like Net+. I currently hold my Net+ and have been studying off and on for my CCNA cert. They are some what similar but the CCNA goose more in depth about IP routing, ISO Model (I hate that model), subnets, and more.
Subnets have been one of the more easy things for me because at my job we have about 3 different subnets on our network. I just kinda picked it up after setting up 2 of them on a Cisco router.
The ISO model has been the hardest thing for me because certain things seem like they can fit in more then 1 layer.
Best thing I can recommend is get some money together, clear 5 days straight off your schedule and take one of the CCNA boot camps. They will get you up and going in no time.

hmmm I remember getting mine in highschool through some class you could take as an elective and it was completely useless.. this was back in 2003 and the CCNA curriculum had nothing to do w/ wireless or anything TOO fancy... grats on working on it though! it seems like its actually useful now to get this

Did you just take the class or actually get certified by Cisco Systems? There is a difference, I doubt the certification would be something you just remember as it needs to be renewed every 2 years.
