They say pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Trying to be in a happier mood. Been dealing with depression for a while now and it's begun to effect those around me, and I don't want that.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, I hope I don't. Have you tried exercising? I mean, because exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't.

I understand it's a chemical thing - so approach it chemically rather than thinking you can non-chemically will yourself through it?

I have thought of exercising. I know it's a chemical thing as well, but in order to exercise it takes will-power and motivation. I really don't have motivation right now, so I have to will myself to get the motivation to exercise to produce the chemicals to get motivation to do more. It's a vicious cycle. This morning I did wake up at a decent time and had a decent drive to get here at work so that has helped my mood a little.

The thing that I usually do - and I don't say this works for anyone but me and a few other people - is to remember that my mood is not me, it's my brain fucking with me. Doesn't make me happier, but it allows me to separate my mood from how I am, which helps me address the world in a more adaptive fashion.

Also, St. John's Wort, and vitamin D. They're relatively cheap, they're not going to hurt, and some people find them effective. Probably worth a try.

Getting out of the house helps my wife with her clinical depression. I am not just talking to work, but actually going some where like the movies or shopping. It just what works with my wife. Your could be becoming a crime fighting super hero at night, or tipping cows. Just got to find the thing that lifts the veil.
