So theres the big hype about the new installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, its called GTA:IV or Grand Theft Auto: 4.

Originally it was due for release in mid October this year, but since the game needed a lot of work on the graphics and interactivity (apparently) it is now delayed until April 2008.

I myself have been a so-so fan of the GTA series, not overly enthusiastic but I usually get the games and play them through because I love open-world type games. This game I will most definitely get because it is supposed to look amazing and is supposed to be like nothing we have have seen before, entirely interactive with highly responsive AI, and a massive world. And this time they really do mean massive. It takes place in modern day NY, so you know it is going to be quite nice. The main character is a emigrant from a Latin American country who is just trying to make a life for himself.

The game has a whole slew of new features such as the fact that in the past, to buy guns and armor you had to go to Ammu-Nation (the game's gun shop), now that store will no longer exist, instead you do deals in back alleys and such with weapons dealers.....illegal weapons dealers.

Overall it is supposed to be a really, really good game. I will definitely buy it when it is *finally* released this April (or so they say).

Any opinions?

I've been playing GTA since it was a PC release, with a top down view.

These games are great fun, & with the 3d view they add a much nicer story line.

Can't wait till it comes out!

san andreas was great, but not that much greater than vice city.

this one should definitely have a name.

definitely will get it, but usually new numbers are reserved for titles that innovate more then the previous games in the series (i.e. III was a vast improvment over II, VC and SA were slightly improved copies.)

I love 'em all.
I was really upset when RockStar announced that they were delaying its release.

Another feature (I can't believe I'm calling it that) is that you can't fly in an airplane in NY. I'm gonna miss flying with fixed wings.

GTA IV seems a lot different from the rest of the series.
I have no idea how it'll turn out to be, but I'm gonna be one of the first ones to get the game as soon as it releases.

I played GTA 3 on the x box. I was not interested in the other games. however running around in the tank is always fun.

Yea. Since GTA IV is heavily based on New York City, the government had told Rockstar not to include aircrafts in the game because they feared that Terrorists could use it to simulate plane crashes (such as that in 9/11)

I'm not quite sure about this. I remember reading it somewhere.

Before, I like Delta Force II and Land warrior but now GTA. I have Vice City and San Andreas, I prefer the first. Well, many of us are waiting the next release, aren't we?

I have played all the GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas and would also like to play GTA IV but it's releasing in the consoles only so I would have a hard time buying one because I have also plan of upgrading my PC so it would cost me a lot. PC gamers can expect a release in the PC after a year ? Just like they did when releasing GTA SA.

Yeah GTA:IV is gonna good imo, too bad they changed the release date (no birthday game for me) . I generally spend most of my time making PAWN/Small C Scripts for San Andreas Multiplayer. Its a really nice mod, check it out when you can . Of course, there is Vice City Multiplayer as well. (My name is Ramjet on the forums).
