Port Blocking for Mobile Games

Posted 14 March 2014 - 01:43 AM

Hi guys

I've been tasked to set up the new WiFi network at work and they want to stop people from using the WiFi from playing games; it uses up too much bandwidth and causes the network to be slow.

I know it can be done, as my Uni was able to do it, and I know how to open/forward the ports, as I've done it on my own router, but I don't know how to go about closing/blocking the ports.
Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Get a web filter (or something along those lines) to sit on the incoming pipe.. (not really the wifi router)..

You can get prepackaged fun like:

Port forwarding is done on routers to point outside requests to internal ip addresses. I'm not sure that all routers offer port blocking however. So a general 'how do I do this' will not assure you specific menus.

Your uni most likely had higher end networking equipment, & not just a wifi router ;)
