Windows Phones 8 - Games

Posted 15 March 2014 - 01:18 PM

Okay, so I'm one of the 15 people in the world to use a Windows Phone and I've been noticing that games (And apps in general) are all very similar in terms of design.
By that I mean, level choices being in a grid, and a big use of squares.

I wonder, what is the reason for this? And what technology people are using to create this software? (WPF, Silverlight.. XNA)

Have you used or seen Windows 8? Or a Windows tablet?

That's refered to a the "Metro" look or interface. That is the standard look for Windows mobile devices.

Peoples software tends to look the same because they are following the design guidelines of the OS so the user instinctively understands how to operate the program. Settings can always be found in the same place... The same gesture is used for pause, or exit... Etc.
