I'll give that a try.

I went to buy beer on the way home from the hospital. Walk into the gas station and everyone looked aet me horrified cause my shirt was still covered in blood. I wonder what they thought had happened.

They prolly thought "better sell this guy a beer...looks like he don't mess around when you say no".

Totally Missed this post the other day too.

Looks like you hit the corner of the crate, that is not as bad as the one I saw when were doing active training. (dang it I don't have the pics any more)

I betcha still have a major headache too. Well I guess you can't be in heavy metal band without breaking something.

I'm glad they fixed your broken head-ball. Excellent way to end a Metallica song though.

heh ya, it was a big metal box housing some of the electronics for the PA I think. Oddly enough, no headache whatsoever now. Had a bit of one Saturday and was a bit dazed. Now I feel right as rain except for when I run my fingers through my hair and feel the staples. THAT feels creepy as hell.

I was ready to keep going once we stopped the bleeding but my roommate insisted I should get it stitched up cause it looked worse than it felt. I went out to smoke, joking that it's not metal if I don't bleed. Went back in after my cigarette and my vision blurred so off I went.

Good job you don't actually use your brain. I'd hate for you to have your higher functions impaired in any way :D

A shitload of OXY Clean will get it out. I had a buddy get stabbed 6 times in San Diego one New Year's (all in the head and arms, so he took a shitload of stitches but it wasn't too serious). He was wearing a new shirt, which was funny because he wouldn't let the paramedics cut it off of him. It looked like a horror movie prop when he brought it back to the barracks, but he washed it with like half a tub of OXY clean and it came out looking like new.

you don't say?

Well, your head (from the outside in) is primarily skin-sheathed skull right? So getting stabbed on the top, back, and side of your head isn't all that serious if the knife deflects off the skull and leaves only surface wounds. No muscle tissue was really damaged - his right ear did need a little bit of work, but again - not too serious considering he was stabbed 6 times, and not in the context of being active duty Marines.

This reminds me of what Keith Richards said when he drunkenly fell out of a coconut tree and required brain surgery to release the pressure and swelling on his brain. Commenting on the weeks of bed rest that were ordered he said something like "4 weeks...not bad for a brain job."

I know this isn't really on topic, but figured Craig's comment here would be a good reason to ask...

Do you not think it is irresponsible, being able to buy eer at a gas station? I mean, talk about encouraging people to kill themselves. "Oh, you just filled up with gas, that'll be $50, and do you want a bottle of Vodka to drink on route?"

In my state we have laws about open containers in the car. Beer needs to be unopened and bagged, or in the trunk of the car. If I got pulled over with an open bottle anywhere but in the trunk of the car I could be hit with a DUI regardless of any sobriety test or breathalyser. So no, given that, I don't think it's irresponsible. And the overwhelming majority of DUIs originate from people drinking and then driving, rather than drinking while driving.

...only if by making your point you're suggesting it's illegal to drive to a pub or liquor store wherever you live. Gas station is merely a point of sale location. It makes zero difference that it's a gas station, beer store, liquor store, nightclub, bar, restaurant or whatever. If you drive there to get alcohol, who cares? If you drink then drive, where you bought the alcohol really isn't the issue.

Irresponsibility is a personal issue and it's not up to laws to legislate responsible behavior, nanny state or not.
