I know your feels tif. I've had no insurance for months and my cavity just made its way all the way through the tooth.

I'm getting it done by dental students at a school. You can save money that way.

I had my Real Analysis exam yesterday. It was a tough, but fair exam. I need a 49 to get a B- and a 64 to get a B. There were a couple evaluate the Riemann-Stieltjes integrals, evaluate the differential forms, and an Implicit Function Theorem question. I think those were a free 40/45 points. Then there were a couple equicontinuity questions which I think I got partial credit on, and some T/F questions which I hope I did well on.

The final proof I did was showing a family of functions is equicontinuous, rather than proving the mean value theorem for Riemann-Stieltjes integrals. I'm very happy to be done with that class!

Today, I'm knocking out my graph theory take home exam and starting on my neuroeconomics final paper.

Some days I miss school, some days Mac and Neo remind me what I didn't love about it. Talked to my boss the other day about going back to school too, and tuition reimbursement and all that. I'm still too new at the company to qualify but she seemed happy that I was interested in doing it. Asked me to hold off on signing up for any courses and make sure I talk to her and have everything in hand before I do - which is so much promising an answer than 'well we'll have to look into that' or any number of other vague dismissals that I'm used to from other employers.

Honestly, this semester is kicking my ass. I'm taking three graduate courses plus (I'm counting 4000 Reals as a grad course) three junior/senior undergrad courses (Modern Algebra, Incentives, and Neuroeconomics). Generally, grad students take 2-3 courses per semester. I've been struggling to keep up with my work.

Next semester, I'm looking forward to a light semester. If CS won't force add me to AI, then I'll have only 12 hours including one graduate course (Game Theory). Really, not having 4000 Reals will be a breather in and of itself. It's the math equivalent of Physical Chemistry in terms of intensity. It will be quite nice not having 8+ hours of homework per week for a single class.

Stay safe modi

I'm watchin it now. I've been seeing some pretty nasty storm clouds roll by to the south with lots of lightning but so far it hasn't come directly overhead. Or at least if it has there's no rain. . . I'll keep an eye out.

I don't know how it compares to the giant storms you guys get in the US, but on saturday we had a storm too. I was out and about just before it hit and was, fortunately, on my way home when I heard thunder start to rumble. And it just kept on going, and going, and going. All in all, it took me about three-four minutes to get from where I was when it started to my front door and ge tinside, and the thunder didn't stop once. Just one long constant roll.

Currently pulling my hair out over a supposed bug which I don't think even exists.

For a while now I've had reports coming in from various users that data they have saved has "disappeared".

Firstly, there is no code in the system that ever deletes the data from the database.

Secondly, if I compare the highest ID number in the table to the COUNT() of records in the table, they always match, so nothing has been deleted.

Thirdly, when I've checked backups taken BEFORE dates when I've been assured the data was still there, it isn't there.

And lastly every database action is logged to a log table, and there is nothing in there for the people/dates they tell me about.

It's been going on for months now. I can't just come out and say the users are lying or stupid, but I just can't see what else it could be...

Go and speak to their bosses. Tell them that you have found the issue and that it is PEBKAC. Give them a complete list of your tests and results, database checks, the works, then explain that after all of these checks, there is no error, and someone is using you to cover up their own incompetence.
