Affiliate Landing Page Review

Posted 03 October 2007 - 02:03 PM

Not sure how many of you have experience with Affiliate Marketing, but you've all seen the landing pages they use for ringtones and such. This is a landing page for the Live Programming Help we use here on dream.in.code.

Feedback please...

How does that live programming thing work anyhow? Are the members who are there to assist part of DIC or are you outsourcing it to somewhere else? Just curious.

It's a company that I'm an affiliate partner of and they provide live programming help over an instant messenger type interface. They are in no way a part of dream.in.code and do not provide services exclusively for dream.in.code members. However, a couple DIC members are "experts" there. If you're interested in learning more, PM PsychoCoder and ask how his experience has been and if you're going to sign up as an expert (to make some extra $$$) he's got a link with our affiliate ID in it.

I don't think you should green the chick out at the bottom...let her pop. The 5 listings are to cramped, make it 4 with the same amount of space and give the words and buttons some space

I agree with the above poster. All I can think of is pea soup. then again she does kinda look like Linda Blair so perhaps you were going for a pea soup covered girl look. :)

My only concern is that the 1st item listed is for a last minute school assignment. That's also the biggest gripe about DIC memebers are the newbs that post their school assignments, with 'no idea where to start but it's due at the last minute'. Will this lead more of these users & these style of questions/problems here?

Let me spool you up on what this is actually for.

Affiliate Marketing is actually a business in and of itself. The actual definition is:

Quote

an agreement between two sites in which one site (the affiliate) agrees to feature content or an ad designed to drive traffic to another site. In return, the affiliate receives a percentage of sales or some other form of compensation generated by that traffic.

I am an affiliate, and that "page" is an advertisement I created. I will drive traffic to that page through Google AdWords (primarily) and try to get as many conversions (sales) as possible. The company (Kasamba) will in turn give me a commission on the sales I generate.

So, in short, this has nothing to do with dream.in.code, it's just something I'm toying around with. The advertisement here at dream.in.code for "Get Live Help" is the same company, and the same idea, but I'm using the traffic we get naturally to promote it. The landing page in this thread is actually hosted on a completely different site and has nothing to do with dream.in.code.

If you're interested in knowing more, I can start a thread in the Promotion and Monetization forum about affiliate marketing.

Oh, and you can see the final product here: http://www.ackfoo.com/pages/cpp

I like the changes you made with the girl, the final product looks good. It doesn't look like a typical landing page which is nice.

Go for it, hell, you could even signup for an affiliate program and try your hand at your own landing page and see if you can make some $$ off it. That's all I'm doing.

I'm not running a campaign right now for this as it wasn't converting the way I would have liked, but that's a problem on my end, not with the landing page... the landing page was getting click thrus, just not converting once they made it to the order screen so I need to re-target my keywords.
