I have been working on a homebrew ruleset for a bit over 3 years now, and alignment is one of the things that I did away with. Your alignment is determined by your character's actions, not some piece of text on a page. I also got rid of classes, in favor of a system where any character can mix and match abilities as they see fit as things progress. It gives things a little more complexity as there are some things that cannot be all unlocked (such as you cannot maximize all of your attributes, meaning eventually a decision will lock you out of others). If I can get encounter difficulty to a more predictable place, I think I will be basically done with the rules and able to start working on art/ publishing it eventually.

I have my custom game finally stated out, just need time to put in PDF format and do some more play testing on it. So far the project is called BYOH : Build your own hero, until I can find a better name for it. I have simplified the Core D20 (3/3.5 Edition) Rules down to 3 stats, 9 substats, 9 skills, and you customize your character as you play. 9 years of research has finally started coming to a head. We played tested the character generation and combat system about 2 months ago. Our newest player took a whole 30 minutes to create a character and our veteran player created theirs in 15 minutes. Game Play lasted an hour with varied monsters and the leveling up system. It was a hit with my group, so I look forward to finishing out the product. I am also going to make sure their is conversion guides for the most common systems out there. I just need time to work on it........

[edit to fix some grammer, I am sure there is more mistakes.]

I find it highly unlikely that a dog would be able to get into clothing and wield weapons. Magic is still believable though.

You are a talking dog casting magic. A certain magical hand can be a huge assist when getting dressed.
