We need to turn this place around and make it to the top of the next list. For real. We're better than SO.

Thats cool. "Major updates" are for the insecure, btw. Don't change stuff just because some twit needs a site to be a constant construction zone to feel it's alive. I wish more sites would give it a rest, honestly.

Nice. But I notice I'm not listed under "experts" or "mentors" on the about page. Wah.

Because you're a mod now. You need an entry on the "View Team Profiles" page. Because awesomeness needs a two paragraph write-up.

We were ranked below a site that "bytes". Just thought I would throw that out there.

While I enjoy this site, I don't know if it is really worth bragging that we are ranked in the bottom four of the top 14.

Why not? There are hundreds of forums/communities that could have appeared in that list, perhaps thousands.

That is very true, and as I said, I enjoy this site compared to the ones on the list (personally my top three sites are DIC, ISOCPP, and GDNet), but don't pay attention to me on it as I'm a natural worrier and just worried being so low may give the false impression that the sites are better than this one and drive potential users to the other sites higher up.

As far as traffic goes, the only rule is "no mention is bad mention". And anyway, if you look at the other sites on the list, the only one that resembles DIC at all is Daniweb - and there's room in this world for two social sites based on direct, one-on-one answers to individual questions.
So people looking for what Treehouse offers will go to Treehouse - that's a good thing. People who want the One Correct Answer given by a bunch of rules lawyers will go to StackOverflow - and that's a good thing. The thing to do at DIC is to offer good one-on-one problem solving help and firmly insist that people take part in solving their own problems. And that's definitely a good thing.

Hey guys,

it's kind of amusing that the community that was closest to the bottom, was the first one to react. I'm actually quite humbled that xclite was able to recognize the post, and share it here with the community. I tried to make it as evergreen as possible, and to clear things up - it is mostly aimed at entry-level programmers.

I do believe that the communities I covered are the best possible resources for new programmers to be a part of, especially when it comes to grasping the whole concept of programming. We got challenge mixed together with news, and some social corners to help balance things out.

You can submit more communities if you want, I can add them as external resources at the very end of the post. Either way, thanks a lot for the press and good luck! :)
