Now there's some injustice. Someone sees text over the allotted 140 characters of life so the option is not to read it and skip it all even tough obviously someone put some time into typing those words.

Hey Dino, ain't that a kick in the head?

I still dispute there is any confidence scam tactics going on there.

Again, he might just be dialectically crippled. His ability to speak his opinion may be too heavily conditioned by years of sales training. I know when I worked in sales I made conscious effort to talk the way he talks there, and many salesmen do.

I'd have to say it is either a scam or the guy is the biggest idiot alive. Quitting a job that offers security, insurance, and helps keep the roof over your head, food on your table, and clothes on you back with no concrete plans for the future is the most ill thought out and ill advised move in the world. Ranks right up there with going into a bank and yelling "Give me all your money!". Sure, if you don't get killed, it will get you three meals a day, state paid medical, roof over your head, and a nice jumpsuit, but you don't want the unwanted same-sex attention from other residents in the nice resort you will be spending a few months/years in.

I still don't know why he quit. The article also feels like he's trying to sell me something but won't actually tell me what he wants me to buy.

Hint: he's starting his own business, and his "blog" is his business's website. Does this help at all?

this thread is dildos. You have a great article that has some excellent topics in it. Instead you bash on the writer.

He never intended on working there for long. He was supposed to quit long ago. But he admits, the grass IS greener at that job's lawn. But then you have to be honest with yourself. Are you happy? I mean - life's easy. Bills paid. Food on the table. Wifi everywhere and spas/gym at work. But are you happy? Despite being at a comfortable, high paying job - he still wasn't happy or fulfilled. His projects and dreams have been put on the backburner. "The grass is greener, but the water bill is much higher." This is the topic the writer is trying to persuade you on Is it worth massive sacrifice to attempt to achieve more in life?

And his argument is yes. It is worth. His main reason being ANOTHER very interesting point you guys could have talked about. The idea of yourself being a company, and you being the CEO. Really it's a superb way to analyze things and I wish more people would know of this way of thinking. What it means, is that a lot of your choices becomes business-orientated. Specifically towards your own. You /could/ watch a movie - or you could study the latest techniques to set you ahead of the curve. This simple acts upon yourself increase your self worth and ability to make money in the future.

In this article, he applies his own knowledge to go back to the focus of the article: quitting his job at Google. He found that the massive sacrifice of time and energy spent at Google got in the way of his business - so he quit.

He's a businessman following his dreams and achieving goals through hard work. I wish him the best of luck.

I don't understand why this lesson is so hard for some of you guys to understand. It's such a simple concept that anybody with a smidgen of business experience would agree with.

Therein lies the problem.

He's trying to persuade. He's not exploring the decision, or his opinion, he's not exploring his reasons or his goals. He's trying to persuade you that what he did is the best course of action.

If it were the best course of action, he wouldn't need to persuade anyone. He's not offering an opinion, he's trying to sell his opinion as fact. That's the problem. I would have just brushed it off like "meh whatever" if he hadn't been trying to sell it.

Do you know what a persuasive essay is? It's a classic writing topic platform. Lots of articles exist to persuade you to their thinking. It's your job whether or not to determine if he's right or wrong and actually consider the idea.

Guess what, this forum thing is all persuasive writing too.

I think that once dep gets started trying to persuade people that persuading people is evil, you'll never persuade him to stop. (he seems firmly convinced that nobody should hold firm convictions, and frequently expresses his strong belief that nobody should be allowed to express strong beliefs)

Reading it over, I think he's just simply voicing his opinions rather than working to persuade people to follow him. Like how Creative said, he did admit that "the grass is greener" at Google.

Honestly at this point, I wouldn't be stressing to much about it. It's his life and honestly even if he were to be trying to persuade people, there's no real imminent harm. It's not like hes trying to persuade a Fourth Reich or something

What I find most amusing about you rubbing sand in your vagina over this, is that you're the one who said that simply holding a negative opinion about a person's business and sharing it is exactly the same as holding a gun to their head to get them to do as you say.

So which is it Johnny boy? Is he only responsible for what he says if what he says isn't a cliche?

Grow some consistency!

Oh wait, nevermind, that is consistent.

Since it's an opinion, it's sacred and he's entitled to offer it consequence and judgment free! Too bad I'm not entitled to opinions - do I need to incorporate for that?
