I don't think Ive seen a more generalized statement in my life,

I'm guessing you haven't seen our regular M$ vs anything but M$ threads, eh? They're chock full of generalized statements.

That was pretty generalized though...I'd never do that. But then again, I'd expect nothing less from any American. ;)

ROFL! Them damn Americans :P

I liked the post because it gives you insight into what can be expected of you as a coder/programmer. I am just learning and sometimes I need a nudge in the right direction until I get my head around the syntax and what options I have. I don't want to be spoon fed as that is a crippling way to learn. I wanna rock not get fired. :D

Generally speaking, 50% of Americans feel that way. That they deserve the American Dream, without actually doing anything.

Political rant in 3.... 2.... 1

Those people... are called democrats.

Ooooooooooooooooooh, thems fighting words! I'm a staunch Democrat, always have been, always will be, and I don't expect handouts from anyone, I have worked my ass off to get to where Im at today.

I don't think Ive seen a more generalized statement in my life, that would be like me comparing all Republicans to Bush, I don't think Id have a good outlook on Republicans then, not that I do now anyways :)

I've always wondered why I don't get sick of doing the whole learning programming on yourself in your free time thing. I get sick of any other hobby I attempt to take up eventually except this one. I really don't know why... I always want to program, even without a reason. I wish I knew why.

Programming plagues my mind. I can't stop thinking about it. I know I am destined to write that piece of software that will change the world, but until I can get motivated enough again to do it, it will continue to be a thorn in my side. It sucks when I am sitting there and watching tv and then suddenly I figured out how to solve a bug.

The true programmer is a special breed I tell you. I read books on programming for fun, I make jokes referencing programming techniques (lets say I am not too killer at parties), I port code just to see if I could, I analyze everything in my world as a puzzle. So in short I read boring stuff, make jokes that are cryptic and not funny to non programmers, I port because I can, and I find the flaw in everything I analyze.

But the thing is, I do what I know I was born to do. Which in my earlier days was a bit scary because I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. I almost became a chemist if you can believe that.

I almost became an architect, so I can believe it.

Do you think you made the right choice becoming a programmer rather than an architect?

After reading some of the inputs here and reading the blog Martyr2's blog "Is newbies killing the Programming Superstar" I have come to some sort of conclusion.

I hate working with people as they are Bullshitters and Fuck you over and over. In life you have to work with both your industry and people. Does not matter what industry you are in people are there.

These newbies and idiots which you 'Superstars' are helping out can then maybe do one thing you can't , that is selling themselves (I'm not not generalising please!). Whether it is for a interview, explaining to the boss as to why things aren't working out, take your pick. And then when they see how easily they get things they start getting lazy and do not want to do it themselves or they accidentally start using their minds which just gets too much for them (as thinking really is hard work for them). They can then convince, sell or bullshit their way out of it. But do note that they to once had the dream of becoming the best programmer around.

So I'm going out there to fight for what is mine. I believe that there ain't such things as Geeks or Nurds anymore, show some convidence and fight back.
