What Can I Do to Improve My Website?

Posted 11 January 2015 - 10:43 AM

I have a website that has been a few years old. Unfortunately, however, its Google page rank never moves up from 1 to a better rank (checked with www.prchecker.info). Also, my website is only earning a few cents a month from Google AdSense ads. What am I doing wrong? I have tried many things recommended by SEO guides out there, like on- and off-page optimizations, links, etc. Could anyone please kindly help me here? I am so very lost... Thank you in advance.

Your site looks visually broken across the board. Images on top of lines, images with white boarder on top of other images, stuff shoved everywhere, and a whole mess of stuff on the bottom that has zero content.

Am I gathering this is one of those 'get money from seo' dedicated sites? Nothing about actual content creation?

What? No, absolutely not. My site does have contents. You can click on any of the images on the 'Latest Sneak Peek' page and you will be redirected to the corresponding content. It's not SEO dedicated site, it's meant to be a news and reviews site.

*shrug* It does not appear that way to me. It looks to be 'internet marketing money' orientated.

Well, no offense, but I guess you will have to look again, more carefully this time. Anyway, thanks for the reply, though, I appreciate it.

Oh and, by the way, about the blank page going farther down to the bottom of the page, I've always been struggling to avoid it, but it seems rather impossible to fix it with the tool I am currently using to build and update my website.

Perhaps use a different tool?

What tool are you usi.g for the site? It has a lot of flow and layout issues and is extremely non mobile friendly.

What is the target audience and what are you trying to accomplish with the site?

I saw that. And the OP probably doesn't realize that money is a byproduct of a good site, focusing on the former instead of the latter.

(it looks like a basic HTML class project gone wrong, from a design point of view.)

I am using NetObjects Fusion 11. Can anyone possibly suggest what tool I had better use instead?

Do you understand HTML? If so, I would start with handcoding it and not relying on a toll to do it for me. If not, go with a CMS and use a template that someone else created.

The first thing I have noticed when entered your website is the navigation! It's just too much of that! Also, I think the problem is that images are your main content, not text. By the way, do your images have ALT tags?

Your site has several security issues and is vulnerable to click jacking, a host header attack and same site scripting

Please remove the ScrollUp event when hovering out of the menu header, its ok to have it to scroll down when hovering in, but theres too much going on. Simply hide or set the display to none when hovering out.

Also, maybe you could do something with the images, images with white backgrounds on a black background can look very ugly, maybe you can add a grey border with a border radius to make it look more professional.
