Signature of the Month (February 2015)

Posted 02 February 2015 - 09:18 AM

Time for another signature of the month competition!

Last month's winner was BetaWar, for this signature in the 'Tolkien' - themed contest:

BetaWar deliberated on a topic and decided:

-- The Abstract --

He explained "whether people think Picasso, or abstract art in general is up to them.".

Take something and make it abstract, create your own abstract piece, or roll high enough on your bluff to make something apply and slap the "duality of man" label on it! Get creative, dance outside that box, and go nuts!

Feel free to discuss what you may try your hand at. It's all up to you!

Rules and important info:
  • The contest will run until the 286h of February after which voting will begin.
  • Signatures must not exceed 400x100px
  • They must contain your username.
  • When finished post the signature image on this thread.

Winners will receive this shiny userbar to display in all its 24 carat glory and the right to pick next month's theme.

Good luck!

Oh, and if you are thinking about participating it wouldn't hurt to drop a note here so I can harry those "down to the last minute" sort of folk when the deadline looms!

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 1

What? Not even an eraser skull (with shavings) to represent the duality of n02 and life?!

*squeeeee!* I think I have a wonderful idea! Now if I can only get off work fast enough to fire up Corel Painter and see if I can get some acrylic down for it!

So fun story. It seems Corel Painter X just positively HATES it when you have more than 8gb of RAM on your system. Polly Prissy Pants Painter crashes on load. Great.. F'n great. Now it seems I either throw a paper clip on that 8gb stick of RAM to disable it so I can run Painter, or start scouting out a version that supports 16gb of RAM and pony up the clams for that.

Thankfully I have Artrage as well so the abstraction continues!

does the theme "abstract" include movements such as surrealism or is it abstract art by its strictest definition,
I say this as pencil has an image which clearly dictates a thing present in the natural world (a skull) which goes against what abstract art is about.
also I would much rather create something that is more in the surrealism style.

It's a topic on being abstract so less surrealism and more abstract...

How are the abstractions going? Are folks vacillating between ideas or concepts?

I can only imagine what sort of dither the snoopy-fetishests are in!

I am definitely looking at creating something... I am thinking with clocks... Maybe lightning and abstract shapes. We'll see how it turns out. If not, I'll probably produce a blob of color and see if people like it :)
