Well then they should seriously work on the amount of shit they can take. Religion causes more war and bloodshed than anything, that is a fact

right, but when was the last time you complained against something but of no avail ? for ex, if the current govt taxed me but provide nothing(as near to it as possible)and i complained /tolerated it but yet nothing.... and this happpened to the majority of people, eventually there is a limit after which it cant be kept inside.

not just religion, any major community facing problems does it. French revolution / Russian revolution, the majoirty went against the people who caused thier misery, and i dont think there was any religious factor involved with that(if there is please correct me)

There has not been a single post denouncing God in this thread.

Though not directed at the Christian God specifically, Dark_Nexus denounces any God in post #13, when stating "nobody has the answers past this life, only best guesses, and to claim you do sounds pretty ridiculous to me."

And yes, I'm sure a great number of people here could make educated arguments against what the bible says - as have a great number of theologists and religious leaders.

I've yet to find a single person that can disprove anything stated in the bible. Sure, I've heard some pretty wild theories, but nothing that holds any real weight.

But since religion is a touchy subject, I'd imagine that a lot of people don't want to get caught up in a flame war...hence the Dr. Seuss.

Agreed. Which is why I've not mentioned it until now. It's difficult for me to sit back quietly when offended though, so I apologize if my continued discussion of the topic has upset anyone.

It is my belief that there are two things that should never be discussed on the internet. Those are religion and politics. Odds being, all you do by saying anything one way or the other about either topic is just going to result in a flame war.

Pretty much.

Ok Ok Ok, I think Josh has it right with his belief in Dr. Seuss. It's obvious Dr. Seuss has all the answers and will lead me in to the afterlife with a gentle hand.

Alright. I'm glad we got that figured out. Closing this thread since there is nothing else to discuss on the issue.

May Dr. Seuss Bless you.

gosh, maybe because the bible is the text of a faith and disproving it doesn't even really matter (and is pretty much impossible by definition). that's the whole point right?

and for those who believe the bible it says you are the pray to God in the privacy of your closet, not in public, which also means a church, so that in itself makes you a hypocrite.

You clearly missed the point of that. Christ was addressing the hypocrites, who pray in public for that public recognition. Where you pray was not the topic, but rather why you pray.

If you want to live your life according to what the Bible says, don't just pick out the parts that suit you, live it full, like where it states you should stone your own mother is she wears an article og cloting made from 2 or more pieces of material. Im sorry if this past part offended anyone, I was raised by an ordained Southern Baptist minister who was the largest hypocrite Ive ever known, and who used the parts of the bible that suited him to beat the shit out of us kids, so my opinion of organized religion is somewhat tainted.

I couldn't agree with you more; you're opinion is tainted. And your father clearly should not have been preaching something that he knew nothing about. .. I too have had the bible used against me by my own family. But I didn't hold that against God. Instead, I read what the bible said on the topic, corrected them in their poor interpretation, and moved on.

Clearly you've never read it. There's more scientific and historic evidence to backup the events/claims of the bible than there are any other historic events.

In fact, I challenge anyone to truly disprove even one statement in the bible. If you can, then I will publicly apologize for everything I've said.

EDIT: Any statement in it's intended context.

Tell you what, why don't you prove even a single statement in the book called the Bible, beyond a shadow of a doubt, leaving absolutely zero room for dispute. Then when you are finished with that, if in fact you can even come close, then I will take on your challenge :)
