Xbox to Xbox software where do I start?

Posted 02 April 2015 - 08:30 AM

I have a idea for software that allows people to play their Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One or vice versa. But I have no idea where or how to start. Can you guys help?

I believe the hardware is different. That's why there is no backwards compatibility for playstation games either. If you have ideas for something, try to look at existing research into the topic area.

Then again, I guess you can rewrite the video game software to use the old hardware.

XBOXOne is not backwards compatible with the 360. There is really no 'software' solution to that.

I would start with getting the xbox 360 developer kit, & a 2nd from the xbox one. You would need to know both to understand communication & compatibility. It won't be cheap, it won't be easy, & in all reality, it won't be possible.

Also, getting developer access for consoles is not something achievable by a single person. I can't speak from experience for Microsoft, but when I looked into this from Nintento, you need a proven track record, a measurement of income from previous game release titles, & a customer support staff.

Assuming that you have enough low level access to the console to install an emulator AND that the console has enough horsepower to act as an emulator not only for the CPU, but also the GPU, then you may have half a chance. It's very unlikely, though.
