Selling vb.net application

Posted 21 April 2015 - 04:31 AM

I'm a private developer, I develop my desktop applications using vb.net (all versions). I've costumer interested in buying one of my applications but I want to know if there's some sort of fees to pay to Microsoft before I sell it since I used their tool (visual studio) to develop my application.
A) if I need a developer license from them to be an independent developer?
B) what will happen if I don't pay them?
C) how much it costs to legalize my applications if there are fees to be paid

I'm using Microsoft visual studio (I downloaded which means didn't buy it)
I'm using Microsoft sql server enterprise 2014( I downloaded it too).

Please is there someone to help me? I'm trying to avoid bad consequences.

Thanks in advance

Basic search pulls up their information "Commercial use of Visual Studio Express".

What do you mean you 'downloaded it too'? As in a pirated version?

First - don't be a dink and torrent software especially when there's a perfectly fine option as SQLExpress.
Second - I hope you were not planning on bundling and selling this pirated copy with what ever your app does.

i used to build my applications on vb6.0 and using access as database manager and it never been a problem. It's been awhile that I moved to Visual Basic.net and SQL after finishing to build the same application I had on vb6.0 on vb.net I was ready to deploy it as an upgrade to old version at all my costumers posts then I had a friend of mine saying that I was supposed to pay some fees for using visual studio.
That's the reason why I asked that simple question sir

yes they're pirates versions.
I found visual studio professional 2010 and 2013 on kikasstorent and SQL Server Enterprise 2014 as well.
They were both pirated

You should stop that. Seriously - Microsoft gives out *FREE* versions of VS Express and SQL Express. Stop being a dingus.

As it is I am closing your pro-pirate filled thread. We do not support or condone that. In the future *LOOK* at the options available to you, or pony up the cash for the super duper enterprise versions.
