c/ c++ game development 2/3d

Posted 13 June 2015 - 11:18 AM

I have an adequate knowledge of game development inside of Java abusing their libraries. My real interest is in the lower level elements of game development (although C/C++ are high level languages, I am seeking lower than Java). I am having a surprisingly difficult time finding good resources on this subject. I am mostly compelled at how the N64 was written entirely in C! Anyone have experience in this or have good resource to pass along? I am also interest in assembly game development as well.

Very respectfully,

Try looking for books by Andrew (?) LaMothe. He explains a lot of the 2d and 3d programming concepts in C and/or C++ from what I can recall. His books were mostly written before DirectX and OpenGL so he had to explain all the rendering basics. He does this in a much more accessible manner compared to the traditional textbooks talking about computer graphics in the college level.

He also gets into the having concepts of game loops and AI.
