problem with virtual box (machine)

i'm using windows 7 and i needed to download Linux os for some reason
,so i installed virtual box expecting it to be really fast !!
but, Linux is working really slow on it !!!
even though, i put 2GB ram for linuex os !!
help please ...

You're being a bit vague here.

What Linux distro are you using?
What are you using it for? (As a desktop or a server?)
What kind of hardware are we dealing with?

Define "really show".
What exactly do you mean by that?

sorry about that ...

i'm using Ubuntu 14.04
i'm using it as a Desktop
it is pavilion DV6 (HP)
i'm meant really slow ....

Well, 2GB isn't much for a Desktop environment these days. Even just the day-to-day usage of a normal user would likely require parts of the memory to be cached on the hard drive, which for a laptop with the typical 5400rpm HDD would be a major performance hit.

I don't know how much RAM your computer has, but you should try increasing the RAM allowance for the virtual machine.


Also, have you installed the Guest Additions in your guest OS? That might help as well.

There's also the question of what the HP is using for a processor.. etc. If it's a nice 1.9ghz celeron well.. yeah.

my laptop ram is 6GB ... u think i should divided equally btw Linux and windows ??

and can u tell me about this guest addition ??
