Mint 17 => Dual Boot with Windows 10 (Mint installed first)

Posted 21 July 2015 - 11:53 AM

Hey guys !
I have a little question ... I heard that Microsoft is a little bit .. well ... a b*tch and doesnt let other OSes being installed first but Windows have to be installed first because of the boot manager so you can have a Dual Boot with other Operating System ... well what about that ? Is it true ? How can I install Windows while I have Mint installed ?

You would need to update the GRUB after installing win7 on a partition using a live CD.

Examples:

Windows will overwrite the MBR & points to the installation allowing Windows booting to be maintained by boot.ini & is post OS.
Linux allows for a boot manager such as Grub or LILO to be installed at the MBR & point to OSes anywhere.

It's really not. Bootloader is over written.. you are just reinstalling it.
