Mozilla Firefox or Internet explorer

Hi I'm very new to all this previously I have been using IE as my browser, but have heard that many people prefer Mozilla Firefox.

Which if any would you recommend?

Firefox is much better to me. Any version of it sucks less RAM than the version of IE at its time. Both argue that other has more security holes, but its a fact when Firefox gets one they patch it 7 times faster than Microsoft does. Not to mention that IE never renders CSS correctly. IE7 is much better at rendering CSS and I really like the user-interface. But when you write code correctly you'll hardly ever have problems with Firefox. IE5|6 are nightmares to me. IE7 is so-so. What can I say, I like the open-source community too.

FireFox, it has better CSS support, takes less ram, loads faster, and you also can customize it...what else would you want, either that or Opera, however FireFox is my choice.

i dont think there is any competent of firefox...

and between internet explorer and firefox , internet explorer is really useless , vulnerable and also uses up alot of RESOURCES , ive got a dual core , but still its a slug....

im right now using firefox 3 beta 1 , which uses even less memory than firefox 2,
contrary to that internet explorer 6 was hundred times lighter than internet explorer 7

and last months statistics show that firefox is currently mostly used....

so the answer is firefox

I use both. I have to visit sometimes pages that are useless in FF (I think they have a gigantic table, that FF seems to be unable to render), but work in IE, and in other cases the opposite is true.
FF can hog up quite a bunch of memory as well (I think it doesn't really like to forget pages) so a restart sometimes is unavoidable - however it could be even worse with IE, I've never tried it.
For developing web things FF with its extensions wins hands down. (but you still need IE for that, because you must fix it's bugs)

Try Safari for Windows. On Macs, Safari is faster than Firefox and Opera. Safari doesn't have the addons that Firefox or Opera have, but I like speed.

I haven't gotten around to trying Safari on Windows yet, I wanted all of the initial bugs and things to be worked out. Perhaps I should download it now.

I am using firefox..
safari is pretty good..
but does not have jabber protocol support.. therefore for the gmail fans who want to chat it might not be the best option..
also the proxy settings button had some problem.. donno whether other users found the same...

I can use the gmail chat on Safari.
Running Safari Version 3.0.4 (5523.10)

I could only just recently use google talk with Safari, and I know Google uses different rendering instructions for each browser. And by recently I mean in the last couple of days.
