2002 - Lead writer of Fallout and Wasteland founds inXile Games
2003 - inXile acquires rights to Wasteland IPR
2007 - Facing bankruptcy, Interplay sells Fallout to Bethesda
2008 - Fallout 3 is released
2009 - Bethesda sues Interplay for copyright infringement for selling the Fallout Trilogy on Steam, and for not having full-scale development of Fallout Online underway (which it was). They lost.
2010 - Bethesda moves for an injunction on Interplay to stop production of Fallout Online. Denied.
2011 - Bethesda sues Mojang for naming his game "Scrolls", claiming that it infringes their Elder Scrolls IPR. They lose.
2012 - Bethesda agrees to pay $2 million to Interplay for rights to Fallout Online.
2012 - inXile announces development of Wasteland 2
2014 - Wasteland 2 is released
2016 - Having set the precedent that they think using part of a game's title in their title is trademark infringement, they use Wasteland - which DOES have very, very intimate ties to the Fallout IPR (unlike Scrolls with Elder Scrolls), to such a degree that it could feasibly be confused - in their title.
Just saying. They're that petty. It's cool to see inXile isn't.
