So for some reason or another my campus decided to block App Store. Why you might ask? Well because their freaking retarded as people. Their trying to provide a better bandwidth to the overall students by blocking a ton of services and sites. However, they forget to realize that the campus has a plethora of iMac's all throughout the department. The network on campus is a private network that can only be access using special credentials which luckily i have (since i also work here)! I want to know if there is a way to by pass specific blocks within this network. I heard from a networking student that using a VPN could perhaps allow me to obtain access to the App Store so that i can update the operating systems, etc.
What do you guys think? Am i crazy or is there really a possible way to do that? Also how about protecting my information while connected to this private network or public network in general!
Thanks
Jonathan V

Do you want to get fired? In an over active security lock down this is how you can up your probability.

If you work there then ask for specific dispensation for the campus wide rules. It's pretty easy to do on their end for employees.
If you are a student then I would advocate not breaking their security rules. Simple as that. If you read up on 'for pay' 'secure' vpns there are pretty pictures to indicate how they work.

Closing for trying to circumvent networking rules and guidelines for their services.
