How do I remove KB2976978 from my Computer? I've completely blocked all future updates from my machine and this is the only one of a few updates that should never have been there, which still is.

I'm very annoyed with Microsoft, not only do they push updates such as this that you don't want, but they push updates to report data back to the Microsoft servers, monitor you .etc. and you can't even remove them!!! And not even this, but another update prevents old games from running. I've been troubleshooting for a few days now trying to find out why a few old games are not running - it turns out it's due to KB3086255!

In the Control Panel you can't remove it by right clicking because there is no uninstall button. When I attempt this remove it from the command line, it gives the above error. I'll manually edit the registry, remove/modify files .etc., but I'm not going to stop until I've removed this from my machine. I never selected for updates to be installed automatically anyway. I'm fed up with Microsoft, I've completely disabled the update feature on my machine because of this.

If restore points were active, you should be able to revert before it was installed. You would loose what you've done since, but it would be gone.

Unfortunately, it's a very new machine and the updates were installed at the same time as the update to Windows 8.1. There are no restore points on the machine.

Is there anything else I could try?

Set it back to factory new condition.
