I was wondering if other people are running into the same problem firing up CMD.EXE and other programs that open a console explicitly or under the covers on Windows 10. For example, DropBox seem to open a console to get the windows version (perhaps because the GetVersionEx()) API is now deprecated. (See SO question somebody else posted about this.) Even trying to do a "Modify" or "Repair" on VS2015 hangs because under the covers msiexec.exe uses conhost.exe.
It seems that only Powershell is immune to this "hanging" behavior.

According to WinVer.exe I'm still running 10240. I have updates set to 'deferred' for exactly this type of stuff.
Ain't broke, don't fix it.

But I'm a sucker for bleeding edge.
I think I'll follow your recommendation in another thread where a VM keeps the bleeding edge while the VM host runs something stable.
