I'm grading student Binary Search Tree code. Some students really get it, but just need a nudge about making it cleaner. These types of submissions are fun to grade!

Updating my Windows laptop, which has set unused since, probably, I graduated college. Going to see about getting it upgraded to Windows 10, since I obviously use it so much, and see how I like having a machine running Win10 (instead of just a VM). Upgrading (or trying to) my mac book to El Capitan, though it is taking forever and a half.

Outside of that, I am working on some personal projects. At this point I have managed to get some of my buffer stuff working mostly the way I expect it to, though I think I may have uncovered an error that shows up about .37% (37 of 10000 runs so far) in either my test, my pseudo-random number generator (yielding different results from the same seed), or I have a bug that is _very_ rare in my buffers. My guess is towards one of the first two possibilities.

Will also need to clean off my home desk so I can actually find some space to put something. I keep thinking that I want to get some 4K monitors for my desktop, but none of them really have very good refresh rates as of yet while still being in the size and price range I am looking for. It keeps going to the point where waiting a few years seems to be the best bet on getting a nice 4K gaming monitor.

Today I am having to program against a really nasty API for this mega blockbuster web platform I am designing for the company. This API has already put me behind in my schedule and is terribly inefficient. Not only that, the system itself is a bit cumbersome design wise and so when you mix a cumbersome system and an inefficient API, well you get crap. And some how I am suppose to spin it into gold.

Just call me the programming Rumpelstiltskin!

Made a HUGE improvement on my desk! I can almost see it now, just have a few more boxes to figure out what to do with and a lot of cables to get moved appropriately (along with their respective electronics) and I will be done! (with that part of the office... at least)

Work is doing heavy research into using Raspberry Pi's for medical research and will be looking for developers to do development on the internals soon. I may have to see about volunteering for some of those projects.

Have managed to get a few features added to my Yii application today, still have some data tables to design for the email system and notification systems, get some sample data loaded into the database to get some automated tests running.

Saw a friend that has been out of town working for the last few weeks, went gun shopping with him and picked a few top contenders for my next purchases and took him out to eat.

Now, back at home working on relaxing. So far, it isn't working well, though I am getting tired already.

It's the weekend, so, more work is being done on my user management application. Today's focus is on email -> database integration. The contact, bug reporting, and auto generatated emails will be logged to a datatable. Then, based on if parameter flag is passed will either send it out immediately or will wait for a cron job to run and send the emails thru mailgun.

Day 2 with a Win10 machine (laptop -- I updated one of my old machines). So far it seems to work alright, and we will see if I have managed to get the update settings to something I can live with. But I was quite annoyed that they installed a number of crapware while upgrading, (like twitter app) and had to remove a lot of them. Once that was done, I had to figure out how to un-invert my touchpad scrolling (why the hell were they thinking with that?!), and then get it so my touchpad didn't have a ~5 second delay after touching the keyboard before it would start responding again. That was quite annoying.

However, I am pleased that my Adobe CS5 stuff and VMWare workstation seems to be working without a problem. So at last I haven't had to go through and reinstall a bunch of that stuff (not to mention that Adobe refuses to update CS5 at this point, so I would be stuck with buggier versions.

Now, however, I am seeing strange times where, while I am typing, it attempts to take my keystrokes as a hotkey combination or something and either toggles my speakers, or pops up a "enable gaming bar" window. So I need to figure out how to get rid of those...

Being introspective. Sucks.

Saw some unexpected ska last night, that was pretty sweet. Made the evening. Saw a local band that reminds me of Rage Against the Machine, too.

Of course, the shortcuts are added by the Xbox app, and you can't remove that (nor are you able to remove the shortcuts), so I went ahead and added a hellacious prefix to each of them. They are now Ctrl+Alt+Shift+<SHORTCUT KEY>. Won't likely be hitting that by accident.

Just booked my tickets to fly back to England. So, the Todo List for what I need to do is kind of looking like this:

Book Flight
Confirm Ride from Airport in UK
Confirm Ride to Airport or Train Station in US
Find Somewhere To Live in UK Find Somewhere To Live in UK
Find Place to Work in UK
Find Car to Drive in UK
Pack Belongings
Mail Over-sized Belongings, requires place to live
Sell Current Car
Sell Belongings I cannot Take
Settle US Debts
Finalize Divorce
Find National Insurance Card
Figure out if I have to do something Special to get through Security
File Taxes

This is all a Fuster Cluck waiting to happen...

Anyone know how to fix the phenomenon of, "This same exact code worked when I left Friday. Why doesn't it work Monday?"

This happens to me more than I care admit. Depending on how it doesn't work sometimes just cleaning and rebuilding the project is enough.
