HTML and Dreamweaver

when i open a html page in dreamweaver mx its giving me an error saying i have an unclosed tag, but when i upload the page it display right at least on my computer. ive got php embedded in it. has any 1 had a similar problem with dreamweaver? cause looking for that tag is going to be pain in the ass.

Just feed it to a validator, and it will tell you the line number of the error. (Actually I think DW reports it as well)

that validator doesnt work really well. the only errors it found were missing alt tags for images and an unopened head tag but its actually there i guess ill leave it as is

i didnt think any 1 would have the patience looking for a needle in a hay stack, but heres the link to the site you can view the source there. and the head tag is there. its not finished yet so a lot of the links dont work yet. and if you can let me know if something seems to be out of place that would be good too. www.stockscout.net

I think your problem is caused by the short notation for closing a tag. It is not supported by HTML 4.01 Transitional, and also the script tag should have a type attribute as well:
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="scripts/site.css" media="all" >

<script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript">


I've tried this, and those errors went away, the other ones (height attribute for tr tags, and the lack of alt tags still apply)

i figured it out. some of my tags are generated by php and they re commented out as echo line and dreamweaver interprets in wrong. but i did fix the other 2 things and will add alts eventually. thanks for help
