Yesterday's Spanish Inquisition went remarkably well.

This morning, my future brother-in-law wrecked his bicycle and smashed his face up.

Currently, I'm listening to Christmas music and trying to get in a holiday mood...it's not working.

Testing my circuit to move motors to adjust a webcam that could be adjusted remotely. Motors just came in the mail.

Also had no idea you could stream video in the terminal over an ssh connection with VLC... in ascii art...

I was peeling the plastic off of a HandiSnacks this morning when the plastic corner of the container slid under my cuticle and sliced my finger open and I dripped blood all over my desk. Mother fucker.

So we, or rather our users, use a shit ton of Access Databases built to do various business functions. One continual thorn in our side has been "are they using the correct version? do they have an old version?"

I'm not about to rewrite all these apps (yet), I've got too much else going on. I spent this morning cobbling together a pseudo-version control by writing a launcher that will check for an existing version of the database locally, see if it matches the server version, and replace it if it does not, then launch the local version.

Nice, simple, straightforward little app. I'll probably turn it into something slightly more before I get to rewriting the users' tools.

Ha! In a previous job I was occasionally pulled in for a strike team that was going department to department shaking them down for any Access databases of mission critical (or otherwise) being used. Then replicate the structure (and data) on our sql servers for backup/data safety. People ran, hid, and fought to not have this happen. You would think we were asking them to give us living people and not their dead!

our users barely know how to open an excel spreadsheet. We're just going to replace all the shortcuts on their computers with this launcher.

the 'expansion' I'm thinking is to add a GUI and let them launch all the databases from a single application. This one is literally just a console app that copies the accdb down and launches it.
