having anything to have....?

Doesn't that statement tell you the amount of coffee I had today?

Correction: I haven't been having anything in the morning except for coffee.

Would you(if you are willing,) be kind enough to share the resources of the "I can learn AI in my free time," part?

There are a plethora of books available (classroom orientated and otherwise) magazines, groups, etc.

Shouldn't be too tricky to muster up some extra reading.

Bad people using computers in a bad ways eventually get caught... throw in some minor social engineering and they would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for the meddling law enforcement.

Soooooo maybe dial back my python uses for just pattern recognition and analysis. ;) :^:

If you don't have solid linear algebra chops, I would suggest you start there. Modern AI is simply pattern matching, finding best fit to a curve*, and the fundamental math for this starts at (does not end at, but starts at) linear algebra. This is important, since without understanding the math, you're basically working from a kit. If you want to actually do AI, you need to understand how the parts fit together.
Having got a grasp on linear algebra, you might look into some of the fundamental techniques of machine learning - Andrew Ng's coursera course on the subject will be a good introduction there. Once you've done that, you will probably have some good ideas on which way you want to proceed - if not, you probably want to find an area of study that speaks to you more clearly.

*in a sense, the enhanced stupidity approach described in Russell and Norvig really all comes down to a problem of compression: how can we best compress the data we've seen so far into a formula that will match data we have not yet seen. There is no reason to think of this as "intelligence", of course, but it pleases people to use the word.

With the zero/sub-zero winter weather it's time to turn on some oatmeal flavoring roulette. This morning - apple/cranberry! Win!

I probably should find some with less sugar... but no worse than a breakfast bar it seems.
