omg yes. My oldest is on a "You don't run my life" thing right now. She's also resorted to "stealing" her laptop and hiding it away in her closet so that she can play some game when ever she feels like.

Today I will be having sprint planning that should have happened friday. I will also be trying to finalize a project that should be going out this week, but probably won't be. So my day will be filled with F11, check variable nope still good, F11, check variable nope still good.... and so on.

Not entirely sure what I will be up to today, other than throwing my phone out the window and walking down 9 flights of stairs.

We have a fire drill that we were specifically told to work our periods out of the office around. Check in up stairs check in at a prearranged spot in town. After that, the IT group is doing group lunch.

All of my tickets this sprint are either completed or in QA status. I think I heard murmuring about me building a new device to see how involved the process will be. Other than that, senior dev duties helping Jr's.

My youngest self-diagnoses with every mental illness one of her YouTuber heroes claims to have. So far, she swears she has OCD, ADHD, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, and panic attacks. We've also run the gammut of sexuality - from homosexual to pansexual to heteroromantic to transgendered and back again. She writes me notes and leaves them in random places telling me all about her latest illness and how she's an outcast in the world and she doesn't expect me to ever understand, and so on and so forth, and so on and so forth. She sees a therapist once a week. Her therapist specializes in adolescents and LGBTQ youth. Her therapist says she's perfectly fine. Last night's letter says she doesn't want to live in this world anymore because Donald Trump might be the next President. She's convinced he will kill everyone - American or foreign, doesn't matter - just absolutely convinced he will kill us all. And he might, but for as worried as I am about this election, I'm calm as shit compared to this kid. I spent two hours in her room last night while she cried - nay, wailed - and clung to my arm like the grieving widow in a melodrama. Personally, I think she has a severe case of Hypochondria and internet overdose.

This is just part of being a teenager, we all went through it - sometimes it's legit, sometimes it's not. It's just a part of finding yourself. Speaking of though, I feel required to point out that it's just transgender (not transgendered) and also that being Transgender isn't a sexuality ;)

So today I am thinking about dropping some copies of CVs on Indeed and see what happens. There is a next session for a mock interview that I am suppose to sign up for and I have no idea what it's going to be all about.

Last actual interview scared the heck out of me. So I think it is wise to take some tops from mock interview sessions.

I hope I get somewhere.

Currently working on simple app and uploading it on azure.

Also, it is good to know that parents are kid's case when they are being melodramatic and passing through this teenager's phase.

Thank you for the correction. And I know it's not a sexuality, it's a gender identity. Point taken. Regardless, I couldn't care less how she gender identifies or what her sexuality happens to be. My goal is to raise strong, intelligent, self-sufficient little ass kickers.

My older kid didn't go through all this drama. I think it's because she was diagnosed with legit chronic illness when she was 10. The last thing she wants is a reason to go to more doctors and deal with more things she "has" to do. So going through it all for the first time with the second kid is taking its toll on old mom. My hair was not nearly this gray before that child turned 13.

Sheesh. When I was a kid, we knew that you were supposed to just keep that stuff to yourself. Just tell them to sulk it out, it'll be fine. Apparently wearing all black helps too.

Re: What are you working on today?

I'm not trying to downplay mental illness in the least. It's a very serious thing and should be treated as such. I'm just saying that I don't think my kid has any of the illnesses she's trying to claim she has - not because she's immune to them or the "MY kid can't have problems" holier-than-thou denial - but because she doesn't claim to have any problem or identity that she doesn't hear about from some British kid on YouTube. One day she'll hear it, the next day she's sure she has/is whatever "it" is. Two days later, she watches a different YouTube vlog, and comes to totally different conclusion.

She once told me she's schizophrenic because she hears four voices in her head, but only one of them is smart, so she only listens to that one. Well, kudos for picking the smart one, but are they legit disconnected voices or is it just your inner monologue at odds with itself? Her therapist says what's she's "hearing" is normal. But she still tries to blame "the voices" for making her do stupid things.

I truly believe 90% of it is for attention. After her sister was diagnosed and started getting extra attention and special permissions and extra days off school (for doctors appointments...which lead to extra time with mom and extra lunches out with mom and blah blah blah yadda yadda giggity giggity), she's been coming up with things that are wrong with her so she can have appointments and lunches and special days, too. Three years, she went to the school nurse and insisted she was having trouble breathing because she was allergic to the cleaner the janitor used on her desk. She made her face go red and fake collapsed in the nurse's office. They slapped an EpiPen in her thigh and shipped her out to the local ER by ambulance (a fun little excursion that I'm STILL paying for). I took off work and ran to the ER where the doctor proceeded to tell me she was fine. Took a second day off work to take her to an allergist who said she was fine, but didn't test her for anything. Took a third day off work to take her to a second allergist who DID test her for allergies - and it came back that she's not allergic to anything they tested her for. Her crazy allergic reaction was all made up. Why? Because she got a special day out of school, and special time with mom, and special treatment when she got back... and it led to two additional special days out of school to spend special time with mom and go out for special lunches. When called on her shit, she shrugged and said, "Well, I thought I couldn't breathe."

It's basically a boy-who-cried-wolf situation. She tries to fake shit so often that even if something IS legitimately wrong, I'm going to be incredibly skeptical about it.
