Hi there, I have begun developing my final year project for my CS degree. It is a file transfer/chat application solely using java via netbeans.

Right now the programs functions are:

1. aslong as you are using the same address/port as your friends(or whomever), they will show in the session list, allowing you to see who is in the chat.

2. You can send messages to everyone in the chat

3. select a person (or everyone in the chat) and send them a file.

right now that is all i have, i was wondering if anyone could give me some more idea's/improvements? that'd be great!

Thank you to anyone that shares their ideas!

p.s. I was hoping this application could be intended for teachers and students, so they can chat to students/teachers and send them files (homework/cw) etc.

• Ability to recognize links in chat so a mouse over/click opens up a browser automatically.

• Admin privileges.
