POPULAR

I imagine his mornings go something like this:

Trump, in classy and luxurious bathrobe, gingerly unwraps his second Egg McMuffin, the oil and crumbs from hash browns forming a ring around the anus on his face. Enter CIA Officer, stage left.

CIA Officer: Sir, I have your Presidential Daily Briefing, if it's OK with you I'd like to quickly talk about the situation in -
Trump: (cuts him off) I don't need it.
CIA Officer: (startled) But, sir, this is the combined briefing of our nation's sixteen intelligence agencies describing what we think you need to know today.
Trump: (annoyed) I said I don't need it. I just finished watching Fox And Friends.
CIA Officer: With all due respect sir, I think that you'll find that the information we have for you is going to be necess -
Trump: (cuts him off) Do you know what the most popular toys for this year are going to be?
CIA Officer: ...sir?
Trump: Toys. The most popular. Do you know what they are?
CIA Officer: I.. don't think so, sir.
Trump: Well I do. And they're going to be great. It's true. Get out of my sight.

And now for something completely different:

I got an email from Tim Kaine's office that he is opposing Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education! I contacted both his and Mark Warner's office to voice my concerns about DeVos. Kudos to Tim Kaine, and I am confident that Mark Warner will oppose DeVos as well.

It's been all over the news over here, in Europe, that he's going to "make Mexico pay for the wall" by increasing taxes on imports from Mexico.

So, American companies (and thus, the American people) are going to be paying extra taxes, to pay for the wall. And somehow in Trump's mind this translates to Mexico paying for the wall.

Whut?

It's standard doublespeak and misdirection. He tells you "we're taxing everything coming from Mexico and that's how they're paying for it!" and suddenly he's gotten all the jingos fascists to rally behind his tax hike and call it brilliant. Meanwhile the worst he's doing is discouraging US citizens from buying Mexican imports. As far as how that might impact our international relationship with Mexico - it's probably the least damaging way he can try to force the burden on them.

But how about that mass exodus from the State Department?

The green card thing was the brain child of Trump's Nazi Propaganda Minister.

Bannon wanted turmoil and condemnation. He wanted this executive order to get as much publicity as possible. He wanted the ACLU involved. He thinks this will be a PR win.

Ideally, in the eyes of Hair Führer's Goebbels, there will be violence and he can declare victory. If there isn't any violence, some will be manufactured.

On the upside, Donations to A.C.L.U. and Other Organizations Surge After Trump’s Order.

Hair Führer

Ooh, that's a good one.

Anyway, I agree with Trump and the Republicans when they say that the president shouldn't rule by executive order, that this sets a dangerous precedent, shows executive overreach, and makes the president look like an emperor. At least, that's what they said when Obama was president and issuing executive orders at a rate of 34.6 per year, I assume they still believe that after Trump signed 17 in a week. Surely they still believe that, right?

I don't disagree with everything he's done though. I'm not a fan of the TPP, and I appreciate the order restricting lobbying and lobbyists. Some of them are a little bit nuts though, like the security council thing where he made sure that Goebbels has a seat at National Security Council meetings but also limits the participation of the Director of National Intelligence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Both of those positions are Senate-confirmed positions, by the way, but Goebbels was appointed.

I'm sighing inside at the explosion of people on twitter going "I voted for you Trump how you can get rid of ACA?!"

Instant Karma I suppose.

Unrelated, I thought this was amusing - came to mind re: Hair Fuhrer

Agreed, TPP was one I was happy about. It's kind of a stopped clock being right once in a while thing, though.

Yes, the double standard hypocrisy is infuriating. Everything Trump has done would have caused the Replications to loose their shit if Obama had done it. The fact that Trump does things they actively condemned Obama for doing and they walk around like they just fucked an alter boy shows their fundamental depravity.

This is fascinating: Fear of authoritarianism pervades Koch network seminar, as billionaire donors grapple with Trump. It's their fucking fault and now that they can't control the frenzied ferret farmer they're worried?!?

I really hope they impeach this moronic Mussolini quickly. Even if that leaves Pence and the rest of his dominionist horde, at least they're only the crazy of Christian jihadists and not just totally cracked. I literally know people leaving the country. For real. If not, they're developing a wicked valium addiction.

You're just saying that because all of the rednecks in Texas decided to fortify the Walmarts when the military decided to conduct their training in the area, but no one bats an eye when Trump tweets out a threat to send the Feds into Chicago.

I was struck by the first sentence of this article.

Quote

An executive order gave the right-wing agitator Stephen K. Bannon a full seat on the principals committee of the National Security Council, a startling elevation of a political adviser.

It's good to see the Times is starting to really call it like it is.
