Feedback on frontend

Posted 25 November 2016 - 02:38 PM

I recently released my website to the public, I built it from scratch. However, I am much better at programming for backend than the frontend and I would like some feedback on where I can make improvements to the site's design. The URL is https://www.thesimsmedia.com/.

It is quite neat and tidy which I like.

Some work is required on padding and/or margins, a lot of the text abuts too close to the edge of its container. "Featured Submissions" is too close to the large image below it, and I'd prefer that this image have the same margins either side of it.

The dark text in the footer is poor on contrast and difficult to read.

The social media icons would be better having the same height.

Good though, although lacking a little pizzazz perhaps ;)

You don't have an h1 element, which it should have, and your class "h2" should be a h2 element, not a span.

You've used a lot of br tags. These should be used sparingly, using CSS with block elements, margins, etc., to replace most of these.

Also validate your HTML and CSS.
