Portfolio Site

Posted 03 January 2017 - 07:55 PM

Hi guys,

Getting ready to apply for web development jobs. Finished my portfolio site. I wanted to keep it simple for obvious reasons. Would appreciate any advice or criticism.

Not bad. The "code window" is irritating, cute, but irritating.
Drop the portfolio site from your projects, I would expect you to have written the portfolio site.
Think about the grouping categories. "OO Programming" isn't a language and MySQL isn't a web language.

I know, you're right and that was one of the things bugging me. I think it's best to change the heading from Languages (web) to "Web Development", and Languages (software) to just " Software Development" It should fit then.

The code window thing and the analogue clock was to just showcase bit of my skills, without a plugin. I found out that lot of recruitment personnel love seeing moving things.

Also including the Portfolio Site in the projects list, then again I wasn't sure, looked around and some folks included and some didn't. I think it's best to remove it.

Planning to include a link to Github for code samples. I will be mainly applying for junior roles to kickstart my career.

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated.

I know :) I guess everyone expects to see a map in a contact page, that was the only reason. Also, I'm a bit hesitant giving my full home address hence London.

Thanks for the reply modi123_1.

If you were a business, sure.. a map would be nice.. but you are not so it looks out of place.

Yes, I agree with you. Will definitely remove the map.

The code text is very small which makes it very hard to read. Other than that your layout isn't bad. It's also responsive so that's good.
