*sigh* I get tired of people claiming they don't see how something could be done or asserting that it isn't possible when I say it is. A co-worker got me annoyed enough today in a conversation that I just spent the last ~3 hours writing up a POC that does exactly what I claimed could be done and they said couldn't. Perhaps not the best use of my free time, but I keep telling people that if they would just get management buy-in to rewrite the API we could do all these things they are trying to put together manually (read - someone on my team, likely me, will have to put together API descriptors manually and update them each time the API changes) in an automated fashion.
I absolutely loath the idea of doing busy work when we can get all the benefits for free if management would just wake up. I mean, seriously, considering the amount of time people have wanted this and attempted to plan out (and manually do) these descriptors, we could have just put the dev effort towards rewriting the API and have this free for now until the end of time. When you consider the added benefit of being able to unit test the API handlers with my proposed solution as well, it seems like a no-brainer to me. I am also talking about giving the automated stuff in the API enough information to be self-documenting, which would allow people to literally run an API command and get all API handlers, along with all their arguments and returns and descriptions/ validation regex on the fly without some external descriptor having to be maintained.

Soon. Very soon we'll get away from all that. I can't wait.
Finally found the mystery file that has all the data I need, so that's nice. Streamlining the process of creating it is going to be another matter entirely...

so apparently there is a link between HPV and cancer. And HPV can be sexually transmitted leading to increasing rates of prostate cancer for example, as my doctor explained to me. Which was a segue way to a fairly awkward conversation given that the cancer i had was on my face....

Let us know if anyone is doing anything in AI. (as opposed to fancier recommendation engines and NLP, that is)

I tuned in where the chatter was more on the ethics, countering the media's "robots will kill us", philosophy, etc. How to use AI to make us smarter, not dumber, etc..
