remember that the ICS computer will reset it's IP address to 192.168.0.1 so all computers connected to it have to be set up with the 192.168.0.x network address and 192.168.0.1 as the default gateway...

if i set up my machine as the main computer that is going to be serving the IPs i will get the standard ip address right? not a internal like 192.
also should i do it using a hub or should i connect my moms machine straight into the 2nd nic in the back of mine using crossover?

you could try using the setup home or office networking setup, it worked fine for sharing my connection between my main comp (winxp) and my laptop (win98).

i have xp pro running on two computers and ME running on one the only thing you have to do is to make sure you have all the correct network compents installed and then click in the connection folder where is shows all your connections (eg LAN or internet connection) go to the properties of the LAN connection and on the last tab there should be a check box saying 'let others on network use this connection' or something like that, just click that and everything should work....i dont know if its just me but i have reinstalled win xp on the 'host' computer several times and sometimes i have to share the cable connection and sometimes the LAN connection....how come it changes which one i share ?

when i first installed xp i shared the net connection, but now i have to share the LAN connection to get it working on the network and if i share the net connection on the host computer it makes the internet stop working......weird if you ask me but hey it works :)

o and id would use a hub

haven't you asked about the 2nd NIC with a crossover before? it won't work. ICS can't fathom you having 2 NICs. use a hub.

sky was right about where to go to enable ICS. you can also use the wizard by going into your Network Connections folder adn choosing the "set up a home or small office network" link on the task pane.
