Seriously considering the concept of home ownership instead of renting. The list of requirements thus far:
1. Should have dishwasher or an obvious location to add a dishwasher.
2. Should have central air or be easily adapted to add central air.
3. Should have off-street parking or be easily adapted for off-street parking.
4. MUST have a minimum of 3 bedrooms.
5. Must NOT have oil heat.
6. Total monthly payment (including taxes and insurance) should be no more than 50% of our rent amount.

Well, a company that I blew off contacted me again with renewed vigor. Made an offer that is hard to pass up, so I guess I will talk to them and let the tell me I am not good enough. It would include a base salary of $210k+ and had me scrambling to keep composer. (almost spit coffee all over my computer)
Cons:
Drive - it is further away
Unknown - I am happy at my current job. I have no idea what I would walk into there
Pros:
It's an architect role - That's where I want to be next in my career progression
$$$$$$ - self explanatory

If they think you're that kind of money, maybe you should give them a chance to convince you.

As for the drive, you'll adjust. With the unknown every new thing is an unknown, the job you are currently happy at was an unknown at some point.

I feel compared to the cons just getting to where you wanna be next should be enough to convince you to at least talk to them and see their culture for yourself.

You know, with that kind of money you can just buy a sports car and that way the commute will still take you the same amount of time. Plus you will look bad ass. So you can put that in the Pros.

Sports car? Pffsst.. Go big for a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado convertible. Make it hot pink! With whaaaaaale-skin hubcaps and all leather cow interior and big brown baby seal eyes for headlights! Yeah!
Drive around in that baby at 115 MPH, getting one mile per gallon, suckin' down Quarter-Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds in the old-fashioned non-biodegradable Styrofoam containers!

Can you do some work from home? Maybe work four tens and get you back a day?
There's always options.

I'd suggest an Impala... black... red trim... tinted windows... license plate "VLAD"

The drive might be a good time to get in some good audiobooks.

My commute just changed from 20 minutes to an hour. 50 minutes of it on straight road at a single speed limit. I just listen to a podcast and put cruise control on. The only problem I have with the longer commute is how early I have to wake up.

You guys fail to see the brilliance in MY suggestion. You can buy the sports car and STILL:
1) Eat a quarter-pounder cheeseburger in the Styrofoam container doing 115mph and 1 mile per gallon.
2) It can be black with red trim, license plate "VLAD"
3) You can listen to an audiobook while you have cruise control set
4) It could be a Tesla with insanity mode
You see the power of my plan here? Heck even for good measure you can toss in "Kit" from Knight Rider and have it read you the audio book and be bullet proof.
