Avoid landing page redirects for the following chain of redirected URL

Posted 23 March 2018 - 07:42 AM

Avoid landing page redirects for the following chain of redirected URLs.

ISSUE:

I did a test and my main page speed i slow. I used the following website to did a test:

gtmetrix

go under the following section:

Avoid landing page redirects for the following chain of redirected URLs.

http://murkymuse.com/
https://murkymuse.com/
https://murkymuse.com/UI/Home.aspx

you see it is doing redirects on main page 3 times. I need help debuging and trying to fix this. it should not have 3 didirects.

ABOUT WEBSITE:

I am using domain, and hosting from godaddy.com but I am using cloudflare.com servers bc they offer free SSL icon in url.

I am also using google analytics: google analytics. this is just couple lines of javascript on my main page.

for my website I am using vb asp.net. i have a default page which redirects to 'UI/Home.aspx'. i used this file to be run from godaddy.com. kind of like index.html i guess

CAUSE?
i think this could be becuase of i am using cloudflare... so when user enter in my site in url...
it goes to cloudflare to get SSL, than it goes to godaddy.com, than it runs my default file (UI/Home.aspx)

this explains why its redirecting 3 times (cloudflare, godaddy, default file). is my think correct? if so than how can i try remove coupld of redirects?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Seems like a config issue more than anything else.

The default router should be sending the Home View.

Wait, aspx... Are you doing webforms?

Is 'home.aspx' your start/default index page for your site?

yes, thats correct. Home.aspx is my index/main page for my site.

on godaddy.com, if i change my start file to Home.aspx than i get an error:

Forbidden
You do not have permission to access this document.

Web Server at murkymuse.com

so to get around this issue, i create a default.aspx file on upper lvl (next to web.config file)

default.aspx.vb

Partial Class _Default
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
        Response.Redirect("~/UI/Home.aspx")
    End Sub
End Class

note this could be the 3rd redirect from my main post

Odd. Typically you would want your webpage, at the top, be named index.html, and definitely not buried in a folder.

Are you three redirects not happening when running in Visual Studios?

You would run it and watch what is happening, or even step through it all with a break point at the top of the index page.

ok i moved home.aspx file on top level and on godaddy made my Home.aspx as default file to run. it did worked! i removed 1 redirect. just 2 left.

1st redirect ofc i need and cant do any thing with that...

2nd redirect i want to remove but i think, again i cant do any thing about it.. its the cloudflare redirect?

try to re-test... you will see it runs couple secs faster now so thats good
