Windows IIS

Posted 16 January 2008 - 05:17 PM

I really wanted to get into C# programming, and after scanning a few tuts, i decided to grab the Visual Basic 2008 Express compiler. This was all good until the .Net 3.5 install failed multiple times. I tried installing the update alone, as well as working through Microsoft Update. These installed failed similarly, and upon searching for help, i came across people with similar problems. They stated that making sure Windows IIS was installed (Windows Component), which as i found wasn't installed on my machine. Upon trying to install, it demanded the XP CD. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, FYI. I realize this is the way Microsoft has always run things, but after searching for the CD everywhere, i couldn't find it. :( Is there any alternative solution to this problem?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Astonishingly enough; it can be done.

You might want to try and find your Windows XP CD again. They're damned handy to have. You never know when you'll need it.

EDIT:

Also, I'm XP Pro SP2, and I do NOT have IIS installed. And I'm running the .NET Framework v3.5 just fine, along with Visual C# 2005 Express Edition and Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition. So I don't know why they're telling you to install IIS.

EDIT AGAIN:

You're trying to get into C# programming? And you downloaded Visual BASIC? I'm getting a bit of a mismatch there... To work with C#, you need the Visual C# IDE, Not the Visual BASIC IDE.
